The only way you improve revenue in a dental practice is by serving your community better, serving more people, helping more people with their dental needs. Sometimes that goes without saying but it really needs to be said. This is the only way you can do it. So, if your revenue goes up, it goes up only because you are serving more people.
As we have talked about before, the percentage of new patients that come from referrals is really a key indicator of how well you are serving your patients. There is no better way to self-evaluate how your patients appreciate the service you give. The higher that percentage number, the more effective you are in giving people what they want.
Remember, patients take a risk when they refer you. If they are going to send their friends and family to you, they want to know that you are going to take really, really good care of them. If they don’t have that confidence in you, they don’t refer. You do not get 40+ referral patients a month unless people can sense that you are there for them.
Service, therefore, should be your main priority, and by serving them you get everything. Like Zig Ziglar says, “You can get everything in life you want if you just help others get what they want.”
